“Friends that love to write and play acoustic/experimental/folk music.”

Check out the Pittsburgh band on Facebook and MySpace. They play Brillobox tomorrow night supporting Wake Owl along with local favs Sleep Experiments. My thanks to Jason Rekuc (Vocals/Guitar) for taking the time to participate in this edition of First/Last.

The first album you ever bought?

The Presidents of the United States of America self-titled.

Your last album bought?

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, “Here”.

Favorite album of all time?

The Beatles, “Magical Mystery Tour”.

Least favorite/most disappointing album?

Can’t say this would be my most disappointing album, just the last time I remember being disappointed with a record. The Tallest Man On Earth, “There’s No Leaving Now”. Love this guy’s music and was excited for a new release. Maybe I need to give the album a few more listens, but at first none of them jumps out at me like they usually do.

First concert attended?

Brand New/Taking Back Sunday/Rufio. All bands touring off their first album…very memorable Emo show at a young age.

Last concert?

Band of Horses here in Pittsburgh, PA. Waited about 4 years to catch ’emlive and they were everything I imagined them to be!

Favorite concert ever?

Paul McCartney opening up the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh. I’m a huge Beatles fan and seeing him live was enough to get me hyped, but this man sounds incredible for how old he is and everything he’s been through!

Least favorite concert?

Modest Mouse. I have been a MM fan for a long time and I was a little disappointed seeing them for the first time. Maybe they are just at that point in their careers??

Favorite thoughts, experiences about Pittsburgh?

I love Pittsburgh! I was born outside of Columbus, OH and moved to Pittsburgh at the age of 6. So I basically grew up in the Burgh. So many good memories made. There is an amazing music scene here too which seems to stay hidden and unrecognized from the rest of the world. I like it though, kind of gives it a very underground and unique feel. Of course some great sports teams. I’ve learned to appreciate the scenery. Huge hills and valleys. Not a bad view in the city all which showcase the beautiful skyline.

Thanks, Jason. Liking the music, man. Any official releases I should be looking out for?
