“JBLD is a Pittsburgh based group who pulls from classical and contemporary influences in Jazz, Funk, and Rock. Raw sound that’s good to the last drop. Jude Benedict, 2013 Dos Equis Singer Songwriter Competition Finalist: Only hearing Jude once, the most recreational listener immediately falls in love with the sound. The powerful command of a strong, low belt heard in few others is an immediate signature of Jude’s sound; it demands attention and compels respect. Furious guitar playig meets2 deeply personal and heartfelt songwriting in a stage presence that is truly enamoring, and occasionally frighteningly perseverant. Jude pulls from modern influences while holding a rich inspiration from many classic artists from Etta James and Ella Fitzgerald to Jazon Mraz and Janelle Monae. Jude is becoming quickly recognized as a unique and, in many ways, unparalleled and inspirational talent in the greater Pittsburgh music community.”

Check out the band on Facebook. Brand spanking new to the local music scene, Jude and the band are already getting raves whenever they play and you can witness for yourself what all the fuss is about when they hit Hambones tomorrow night supporting friends of the blog Chelsey Nicole and the Northside Vamps and The Soul Miners. I want to thank Jude Benedict (Guitar/Vocals) for taking the time to participate in this edition of First/Last.

  • To put it perfectly, I read in the City Paper a couple weeks ago that Pittsburgh is a city where anyone can leave a mark for the future to find. We work hard here, and we have a lot of heart, and that is the kind of stuff that makes a difference for our future.

Thanks, Jude. I am hearing some very exciting things about you and the band. Looking forward to witnessing it for myself!
