“Rah Rah is an indie rock musical group formed in 2006 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. They have toured extensively across North America and Europe. The band has released four full-length albums. The group has been noted for their energetic live shows which often feature some combination of giant balloons, piñatas, robot cats, Pop Rocks candy and confetti.”

Rah Rah is an indie rock quintet from Regina, Canada who are in the midst of a tour supporting their latest release, “Vessels“. They return to Pittsburgh on Tuesday night (10/20) at The Smiling Moose for the EARLY show supporting Dear Rouge. Much thanks to Erin Passmore (Drums/Guitar/Keys/Vocals) for taking a few to participate in this edition of First/Last.

The first album you ever bought?

I received a Beach Boys tape for my birthday when I was young, and I think the first one I purchased might have been the ‘Lion King’ soundtrack (on tape of course).

Your last album bought?

I re-purchased Kathleen Edwards’ “Voyageur” digitally, a record I could buy over and over again.

Favorite album of all time?

It’s a toss up between Bjork’s “Post” and Radiohead’s “Kid A”.

Least favorite/most disappointing album?

I find if I know I don’t like a particular artist’s style or can’t connect to it, I won’t buy their record.

First concert attended?

Celine Dion at the Regina Centre of the Arts in the 90s! (“it’s allll comin’ back to me noooooow!”)

Last concert?

A Tribe Called Red at Stanley Park in Vancouver.

Favorite concert ever?

Definitely that last ATCR show in Stanley Park. It was outdoors and the crowd was full of every type of human possible. Every one of us danced our faces off!

Least favorite concert?

Haven’t really been to one, though when I was doing merch for my brother’s other band Sylvie in Winnipeg, the power went out as soon as they struck their first chord. Kind of a bummer.

Any thoughts, experiences about Pittsburgh?

The second to last time we played in Pittsburgh I wanted to get my septum pierced across the street from the venue. I was feeling quite rebellious, but luckily the band reasoned with me, helping me come to terms with the fact that getting anything pierced on tour would be the worst idea ever. I waited until I got home and THEN got it pierced ?
