St. Vincent Thursday February 21, 2008 Andy Warhol Museum Another purty pic of Annie. Did I mention how difficult it is to take a decent shot at the Warhol? It’s like taking a photo in a cave. I gotta say this one rocks!

p>Andy Warhol Museum As my brother reminded this would be the second time seeing The Waco Brothers. We saw them several years ago and considering the literally hundreds of concerts I’ve been to over the years I just don’t remember the show. Unfortunately, I was so blitzed at this one I hardly remember it as well. I do remember jumping onstage and dancing at one point… don’t mix liquor and beer kids, take it from me. No harm done though…

Andy Warhol Museum This show was kick-ass. Devonte Hynes used to be in a hardcore thrash band called Test Icicles. He goes solo and releases a lush folky album called “Falling Off The Lavendar Bridge”. It’s a good album but the live show added a harder edge to the music…

This was my favorite concert of the year so far. I took a ton of pictures and will trickle them out in the coming weeks. They have soooooo many great songs to choose from for a show. What a band…

Schenley Plaza I absolutely LOVED Jenny Lewis’ 2006 release Rabbit Fur Coat. Getting a co-billing on that album as well as significantly contributing to the overall sound of it were then unknown sisters Chandra and Leigh Watson on background vocals…

St. Vincent Thursday February 21, 2008 The Andy Warhol Museum I was debating on whether to go to this show or not. It was a toss up between seeing her or Vampire Weekend a month before at the museum. Neither of their respective albums were doing anything for me. I chose to see Annie and […]

Three Rivers Arts Festival Main Stage Being the last night of the fest and considering I didn’t make one show this year, I felt I had to catch this one. Considering that Alejandro was scheduled and he was bringing the rock to support his excellent new disc “Real Animal”, it was a rather painless decision…

Schenley Plaza In realizing that I have no time for posting on a regular basis, I will try something new starting today. Instead of a complete wrap-up of a show, I will post one picture and write a short description. Last night’s Old 97’s concert was probably my favorite of the year so far. I checked the band’s message boards this morning and noticed that a fan was upset about an encounter with Ken in Wisconsin…

These Boston boys are my favorite ‘new’ band right now. Their debut album was my #1 favorite album of 2007. This is the second time they’ve rolled through town in less than a year and both times they opened with “To All My Scientist Colleagues I Bid You Farewell” at my request…

Gloriously rising from the ashes of one of my favorite unsung bands of all-time One Star Hotel, the philly outfit The Swimmers finally brought their straight-ahead pop to the wonderfully dirty Garfield Artworks. I was really surprised at the turn-out…

Califone

Califone opened up for Iron & Wine last night in Greensburg at The Palace Theater. First off I have to say what a venue. These old refurbished turn of the century movie halls that are hosting shows lately are damned terrific. Sure Greensburg is an hour drive from home but so far it’s by far the coolest place to see a concert. They have an outdoor smoking garden that’s TOO easy to sneak my camera into. Next time!…

The New Pornographers in Pittsburgh
