So I see that this band is coming to town and look up their site on the name alone. The very few samplings on their homepage and myspace site convince me to go (plus the $8 cover). Turns out they are a fucking great live band. With eight members (yes, EIGHT!) playing acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, keyboards, trumpet, cello, percussion, and drums, they have a totally unique sound. The songs really shine through with this arrangement and I expect to hear from them more in the future. I was bummed that the new disc wasn't released yet and I had to settle for a three song sampler. What a tease! I was also bummed that there were only 10 people in the audience. Local promotion is ass around here. No wonder bands bypass Pittsburgh like it's the herpes capital of the country or something. The band seemed to shrug it off and played with enthusiasm regardless. They couldn't have been a nicer bunch. They even invited me backstage at Club Cafe, which was a first, and which was a ridiculous hassle two nights later.
