Why HughShows?

HughShows began in 2004 as an outlet for founder Hugh Twyman’s photographic documentation of the Pittsburgh music landscape.

Since then it has become the premiere source for local music in the region.

With over 1000 interviews (including Bruce Hornsby, Mavis Staples and Brian Wilson) and hundreds of shows photographed, HughShows continues to grow with the expansion into event production (including providing an essential role as the curator for the annual Deutschtown Music Festival every July) as well as producing an ongoing monthly television show featuring live Pittsburgh musical performances from the area’s leading independent bands and solo artists.

Once called “The Godfather of Pittsburgh Music Blogs” for the sheer longevity of frequently producing unique, original content as many others have stopped, Hugh Twyman was awarded a day in the city of Pittsburgh named in his honor on July 18, 2014 which was exactly ten years to the day he began HughShows, to celebrate his commitment to the promotion of the arts and the ever-growing music community.

HughShows continues to bring exclusive music/video premieres, fresh show previews, artist interviews and exclusive photography to the many fans of Pittsburgh music throughout the tri-state region and beyond.
